Abstract
Objective To observe the therapeutic efficacy of electroacupuncture plus cupping in treating post-infectious cough. Method Ninety patients were randomized into an observation group and a control group, 45 in each group. The observation group was intervened by electroacupuncture at Tiantu(CV22), Danzhong(CV17), and Chize(LU5), followed by cupping at back acupoints such as Feishu(BL13), Fengmen(BL12), and Dazhu(BL11), once a day; the control group was by acupuncture treatment alone. For both groups, 10-day treatments made up a treatment course, and the therapeutic efficacies were evaluated after one course. Result The recovery rate was 77.8% and the total effective rate was 95.6% in the observation group versus 48.9% and 82.2%, and the observation group was significantly superior to the control group(P 0.05). Conclusion The therapeutic efficacy of electroacupuncture plus cupping is better than single acupuncture treatment for post-infectious cough.
