Abstract
Objective To investigate the clinical efficacy of acupuncture and cupping plus gentle moxibustion in treating post-cold cough.Method Forty-two patients were randomly allocated,in order of visits,to two groups. The treatment group of 21 patients received acupuncture and cupping plus gentle moxibustion once daily and the control group of 21 patients took Compound Glycyrrhiza Oral Solution thrice daily. The cough symptoms were scored and the clinical therapeutic effects were evaluated in the two groups after five days of treatment.Result The cough symptom score decreased in both groups after treatment and decreased more in the treatment group(P0.05).The cure rate and the total efficacy rate were 61.9% and 95.2%,respectively,in the treatment group and 28.6% and 81.0%,respectively,in the control group. The therapeutic effect was better in the treatment group than in the control group(P0.05).Conclusion Acupuncture and cupping plus gentle moxibustion are quick effective in treating post-cold cough.
