Abstract

Objective:To research the anti-oxidative activity of Noni juice in aged mice.Method:Tahitian Noni juice(TNJ)was administrated by gavage[5,10,30mL/(kg·bw)] to male mice(10-month-old CL ICR)for 30d.The mice were then sacrificed, and the blood and the livers were collected. The concentration of malondialdehyde(MDA)in the blood and the level of superoxide dismutase(SOD)and glutathione peroxidase(GSH-Px)in the liver were then measured by spectrophotometry.Result:TNJ produced a dose-dependent decrease of MDA,at the same time a dose-dependent increase of SOD and GSH-Px at all three doses. Conclusion:TNJ had antioxidant activity by protecting body against free radical-induced damage.
