Abstract
OBJECTIVE:To probe into utilization of Chinese medicinal decoction pieces and its variation over 3 consecutive years in our hospital and to provide basis for clinical drug use.METHODS:A total of 73 285 prescriptions were sampled randomly for a statistical analysis of prescription data.RESULTS:The prescriptions containing 16 to 20 ingredients took highest proportion, and number of ingredients increased year by year. The most common dosages in single-ingredient drugs were 10 g,15 g and 12 g,and dosage showed an increasing tendency. The utilization structure of prescription drugs was stable, with drugs used for activating blood circulation to dissipate blood stasis showing highest proportion. The drugs ranking at top 10 places in terms of DDD were slightly different over 3 years, leading list was Glycyrrhiza uralensis, followed by drugs used to nourish blood, invigorate vital energy and promote blood flow. Some prescriptions were non-standard.CONCLUSION:It is necessary to study the pharmacopoeia of People's Republic of China carefully and standardize use of Chinese medicinal decoction pieces,to purchase and store drugs rationally according to medication habit and characteristics of diseases and to enhance rational use of medicines.
