Analysis of Tension-free Mesh-plug Repair for 54 cases with Groin Hernia

Objective To summarize the clinical experience(54 cases) of the mesh-plug repair of groin hernias. Methods The mesh-plug tension-free hernia repair was administered in 54 patients of groin hernia with the Bard Mesh and prefix plug offered by Bard Company in U.S.A. Results All cases were cured;in-hospital time was 5.5 days and the shortest was 3 days. The follow-up period ranged from 3 months to 3 years,only one recurrence was observed, the rate of recurrence was 1.92%. Conclusion The mesh-plug hernia repair has a greater advantage than the traditional hernia repair procedure,such as easier surgical performance,less postoperative pain,quicker recovery and lower recurrence. It is currently the most popular choice for a convenient hernia repair procedure.
