Application of mesh-plug tension-free hernia repair to groin hernia

Objective To discuss the value of mesh-plug tension-free hernia repair in groin hernia.Methods The mesh plug tenslon-free hernia repair was administered in 58 patients of groin hernia with the Bard Mesh Perfix plug offered by Bard Company in U.S.A.The operative procedure,surgical indication,postoperative pain,abliligy recovery,complications and recurrence rate were studied.Results The average operation time was 32 minutes.The patients could move 3～14 hours after operation.Postoperation pain lasted about 2～3 days.Five had retention of urine.Three had feeling of foreign matter in the groin region.The follow-up period ranged from 6 months to 6 years and no recurrence was observed.Conclusion The mesh plug tension-free hernia repair is easy to be daministered,with minor lesion,quicker recovery and lower recurrence.And the operation indication can be widened.It is a most advanced method in treating groin hernia.
