Abstract

Since the western literary theory was introduced to China at the turn of the 20th century,it has played important roles in the two transformations of Chinese literary theory.The first transformation took place at the beginning of the 20th century,characterized by a transition from traditional framework to modern framework.Western literary theory was a significant driving force and theoretical reference at that time.The second transformation took place at the end of the 20th century,characterized by a modernization of Chinese literary theory.Sinicization of western literary theory contributed to the construction of contemporary Chinese literary theory.
