Abstract
The turn of the 19th and 20th centuries saw a new exploration of literary theory by the Chinese literati. From the literary revolution in 1917 to the new Period, it can be divided into five stages. Concerning the century's literary theory there are seven major issues, such as literature and art and politics, nationalization and modernization of literature and art. In prospect, the 21st century will see the system of literary theory with the Chinese socialist characteristics, and with the feature of multivariation and network literary theory.
