Abstract

Objective To investigate the effect of deproteinized calf blood serum injection(DCBSI)on cerebrovascular chemistry reserve of rats with focal cerebral ischemia. Methods Healthy SD rats were randomly divided into sham operation, focal cerebral ischemia and DCBSI groups. The rats in DCBSI group were injected i.p.with DCBSI at a dosage of 2 ml / kg body weight 3 d before operation, once a day,and the last injection was given 5 h before operation. The rat model of focal cerebral ischemia was copied,of which the superoxide dismutase(SOD)activity and malondialdehyde(MDA)content were determined 3,6,24,48 and 72 h after operation respectively. Results Compared with that in sham operation group, both the SOD activities in brain tissue homogenates of rats in focal cerebral ischemia and DCBSI groups decreased significantly(P 0.05)and showed a decreasing tendency with the increasing time for ischemia, which reached the minimum 48 h after operation. However, the MDA contents increased significantly(P 0.05)and showed an increasing tendency with the increasing time for ischemia, which reached the maximum 48 h after operation.Compared with that in focal cerebral ischemia group, the SOD activity in brain tissue homogenates of rats in DCBSI group increased significantly(P 0.05),while the MDA content decreased significantly(P 0.05).Conclusion DCBSI enhanced the cerebrovascular chemistry reserve of rats with focal cerebral ischemia.
