Abstract

Theme and thematic progression by systematic school influence the coherence of discourse.But only in the unity of discourse topic do they contribute to the coherence of discourse.Topic has the macro dominant control over theme and thematic progression.This paper intends to discuss the coherent function of theme and thematic progression in discourse from the perspective of discourse topic.
