Detection of serum proteins in hand-foot-mouth disease chidlren and their clinical significance

Objectives To investigate the levels of serum albumin(ALB),prealbumin(PA),high sensitivity C-reactive protein(hs-CRP),immunoglobulin(Ig) in hildren with hand-foot-moputh disease(HFMD) and its clinical significance.Methods There 73 child HFMD patients were selected and divided into group A consisted of 23 cases and group B consisted of 50 cases based on the complication or without complication of erupted myocardial harm and or lung infection,and 36 healthy children as control group.The levels of serum ALB,PA,hs-CRP,Ig in each group were determined and analyzed.Results Compared to the control group the levels of ALB,PA,IgG,IgA,IgM in grouop A and B were declined;the level of PA,IgG,IgA in complication group were decreased,showing statistically significant difference(P0.05);the hs-CRP level in complication group was significantly increased.The abnormal rates of hs-CRP in group A and B were higher than healthy control group,showing statistically significant differences(P0.05).Conclusions The levels of prealbumin and immunoglobulin in HFMD children were decreased and that of hs-CRP increased,suggesting that nutrition of the HFMD children is affected and the humoral immune function is low.The detection of levels of PA,hs-CRP,Ig is valuable for treatment of HFMD children and prognosis of the disease.
