Analysis on treatment of 36 patients with retinal vein occlusion

Objective: To analysis the main methods and effects of treatment in a series of patients with retinal vein occlusion(RVO).Methods: Clinical records were reviewed to analysis the main methods and effects of treatment on 36 patients with retinal vein occlusion between June,2002 and January,2004.In 38 eyes,10 eyes were central retinal vein occlusion(CRVO),27 eyes were branch retinal vein occlusion(BRVO) and 1 eye was macular branch retinal vein occlusion(MBRVO).Seven eyes of CRVO were under drug therapy,3 eyes under laser photocoagulation;13 eyes of BRVO were under drug therapy,8 eyes under laser photocoagulation,6 eyes underwent vitrectomy and endolaser;1 eye of MBRVO was under drug therapy.Results: Twenty-one eyes of recent onset RVO were underwent drug therapy,and had 61.9% of therapy efficiency rate;11 eyes were underwent laser photocoagulation,and had 72.7% of therapy efficiency rate;6 eyes were underwent vitrectomy and endolaser,and had 100% of therapy efficiency rate.Conclusions: RVO has an expatiatory course of disease that shoud have periodic checkup.Different treatments including drug therapy,laser photocoagulation,vitrectomy should be applied in the different course of the disease.
