Abstract

Objective:To evaluate the effect of argon laser for the treatment of retinal vein occlusion(RVO,including central retinal vein occlusion CRVO and branch retinal vein occlusion BRVO).Methods:The clinical information of 250 patients(250 eyes) with RVO from January 1996 to May 1999 in our hospital was reviewed, these patients were divided into two groups, the treatment group with120 eyes (CRVO 42 eyes and BRVO 78 eyes)and control group with 130eyes(CRVO 46 eyes and BRVO 84 eyes). We compared the effects of two groups on vision、fundus and fundus fluorescein argiography(FFA) and the cure courses. Results:The effect of argon laser treatment group was better than that of the control group, and the cure course was shortened. Conclusion:Argon laser treatment of CRVO and BRVO has better effect than routine treatment. It can increase vision、improve on recovery of the fundus and decrease the occurence of cystoid macular edema(CME)、disc and retinal neovascularization and other complications. It can shorten the cure course of RVO.
