Abstract

Objective:To analyze the causes of after laser retinal photocoagulation in patients with retinal vein occlusion (RVO). Methods:11 eyes of RVO (2 cases CRVO,9 cases BRVO) that suffered from vitreous hemorrhage after laser retinal photocoagulation were analyzed retrospectively. Results:In 5 cases, the hemorrhagic amounts in the vitreous cavities were smaller, and in the rest 6 cases the amounts were from middle to large. The duration from primary retinal laser photocoagulation to hemorrhage appeared was from 6 months to 132 months.Vitrectomy in 2 cases and secondary retinal laser photocoagulation in 9 cases were performed successfully, and the visual acuities in all patients were improved finally. Conclusions:The main cause of vitreous hemorrhage after laser retinal photocoagulation in patients with RVO was non-standard laser retinal photocoagulation. The key for successful treatment was to perform standard retinal photocoagulation completely,to follow-up regularly and to perform fundus fluorescent angiography regularly.
