Abstract

To evaluate the clinical effect of mechanical ventilation with PEEP in the treatment of acute pulmonary edema. Methods: 30 patients with acute pulmonary edema were treated by conventional drugs and the mechamical ventilation with 3-8 cmH2O PEEP. The results of BP, R, HR, SaO2, blood gas analysis and chest X-ray before and after PEEP were compared treatment. Control group:30 patients were treated with conventional drugs alone, and the results were compared with those of PEEP group. Results: After PEEP treatment 29 patients were recovered with no more dyspnea, tachycardia and hypoxemia. One patient died. The efficacy was 96.67 % . Conclusion: Mechanical ventilation with PEEP is feasible and effective in the treatment of acute pulmonary edema.
