TWO NEW SPECIES OF SCELIMENIDAE FROM YUNNAN AND GUANGXI, CHINA (ORTHOPTERA, TETRIGOIDEA)

This paper reports two new species of Scelimenidae from Yunnan and Guangxi China. Type specimens are deposited in the Institute of Zoology, Shaanxi Normal University, China.Thoradonta dianguiensis sp.nov. (Figs.1-3)This new species is allied to Thoradonta lativertex Gunther,1938, but differs from the latter in: 1) the width of vertex about 1.5-1.6 times that of one compound eye; 2) antennae inserted below the lower margin of eyes; 3)lateral keels of prozona constract backward; and 4)hind process reaching one third of hind tibia.Length of body:♂7.0-8.2mm,♀8.5-9.0mm; length of pronotum:♂8.5mm,♀8.8mm; length of hind femur:♂4.5-4.7mm,♀5.3-5.5mm;length of hind wing:♂7.3mm,♀7.4mmEtymology. This new species is named after its type locality.Holotype ♀, Guangxi Chongzuo(Taiping), (22.4°N, 107.5°E, alt. 150m), 16 Aug. 2005, collected by DENG Wei-An. Paratypes: 2♂♂,other data as holotype; 1♂,1♀,Yunnan Pingbian(Daweishan), 2000m, 26 July 2005,collected by WEI Shi-Zhen.Eucriotettix interrupta sp.nov.(Figs.4-6)This new species is allied to Eucriotettix amplifemurus Zheng,1998, but differs from the latter in: 1) width of vertex narrower than the width of an eye about 1.5 times; 2) midkeel of pronotum interrupted; 3) hind process reaching behind the top of hind tibia; 4) antegenicular denticles right angle; and 5) the first pulvilli beneath the first tarsi smaller, the second and the third pulvilli are equal. Length of body: ♂7.5-8.0mm,♀9.5-10.5mm; length of pronotum: ♂11.2-11.7mm,♀13.5-14.0mm; length of hind femur: ♂5.2-5.5mm,♀6.0-6.3mm;width of shoulders: ♂2.1-2.3mm,♀2.7-3.0mmEtymology. This new species name is derived from the Latin, “interrupta, referring to midkeel of pronotum interrupted.Holotype ♀,Yunnan, Heikou (Mahuangbao), (22.6°N, 103.95°E, alt.150m), 28 July 2005, collected by DENG Wei-An. Paratypes: 3♂♂,6♀♀, same data as holotype.
