Abstract

Objective To observe the efficacy of Chinese medicine(CM) drench-soak therapy in treating erysipelas of lower limb. Methods Sixty patients with erysipelas of lower limb were randomly divided into a treatment group and a control group;intravenous drip of penicillin combined with drench-soak therapy of CM clearing heat and removing toxin on affected limbs was applied in the treatment group, while only penicillin was used in the control group, and the clinical efficacy, average healing time and clinical symptom scores were observed. Results Patients were cured in both groups. There was significant difference in healing days, which were(6.17±2.51) days in the treatment group while(9.85±3.67) days in the control group(P 0.05).The clinical symptom scores were significantly lowered after the treatment in both groups, and which of the treatment group were significantly lower than those of the control group(P 0.05).Conclusion CM drench-soak therapy could improve the clinical efficacy and shorten the duration in treating erysipelas in lower limb.
