On the Essence and Significance of the Scientific Concept of Development

The scientific concept of development is the new and major achievement in building socialist ideology with Chinese characteristics, as well as a great ideological innovation. It further answers the question of how to build socialism, so its essence is the socialist, scientific concept of development. The key to the deep understanding of that concept is to grasp its scientific content and spiritual essence, and also the inner relation among development concept, world outlook and methodology. The basic premise of the scientific concept of development is to seek truth from facts, and obey the objective law of social development. It focuses on the oriented ideal, with its basic principles and ways of achieving overall, coordinated and sustainable development. In understanding oriented, we should bear in mind two aspects, one is people's main effect on and dominant status in development, the other is people being the master of the country as the essence of socialism. Only through this could we deeply understand why people's common interests are the starting point, goal and standard of development, and could we judge the ideology correctly.
