Abstract

The paper describes the fossils of Cambricodiumcollected from the basal Cambrian phosphoric strata of the Kuanchanpu Member of Xixiang County,Shaanxi Province,China.There are some preservation features ofdichotomic brancheandholdfastin Cambricodiumfossils.Due to the characteristics such as small size and hollow tube we classify these fossils into Cyanobacteria,CambricodiumJiang,1982.The Cyanobacteria bloom provides a new niche with new food sources and thus possibly accelerates the evolution of metazoan in early Cambrian.
