The Expression and Clinical Significance of Livin and Caspase-3 mRNA in Gastric Cancer

Abstract
Objective To examine the expression livin and caspase-3 mRNA in gastric carcinoma and to determine the relationship of clinical pathologic characteristics.Methods sixty gastric carcinoma tissues were studied for the expression of livin and caspase-3 mRNA by means of reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction(RT-PCR).Results Livin mRNA expression in gastric cancer patients without lymph node metastasis were significantly higher than those with lymph node metastasis(P0.05),caspase-3 mRNA was lower(P0.05).The positive expression rate of livin in the I/Ⅱ stage was significantly higher than that in the Ⅲ/Ⅳ stage(P0.05),caspase-3 was gradually decreased.The positive expression rate of Livin increased with depth of invasion decreased,caspase-3 was no difference(P0.05).Conclusion The expression of livin was related to the invasion,TNM stage,lymph node metastasis in gastric cancer,while the caspase-3 expression was only related to TNM stage and lymph node metastasis.
