Breeding of T You 259,A New Combination of Medium-maturing Late Hybrid Rice with Good Grain Quality and High Yield

T you 259, derived from the fine quality CMS line T98A and the fine quality restorer line R259 (R259 is bred from the cross of the fine quality restorer line 207 and the wide-compatibility line 9453), is a new medium-maturing late hybrid rice combination. It has a growth duration of 110 days to 115 days.Its yield is 7.5 t/hm2 or so and its quality has reached the good grain quality standard of the 1st～2nd class which is made by the Agriculture Ministry,P.R.C. It has better resistance against disease, strong cold tolerance and wide adaptability. It is approved for release by the Crops Cultivar Appraisal Commission of Hunan Province in March 2003, and is applied to Ministry of Agriculture for protection on the right of new plant breed variety.
