Abstract

Objective To discuss CT appearances of primary retroperitoneal liposarcomas and the differentiated points. Methods The CT findings of 32 cases with primary retroperitoneal liposarcoma proved by operation and pathology were analyzed retrospectively. Thirty-two cases were examined by CT plain scanning and contrast enhancement scanning preoperatively. Results The size of 32 liposarcomas ranged from 8 to 30cm. The shape of liposarcoma was irregular. And all tumors were located in the retroperitoneal space. Of 32 liposarcomas, 20 cases had huge heterogeneous masses with fat attenuation, and the CT value of them was from-20 to-130 Hu. On CT contrast, the fat was not enhanced, the soft tissue component was slightly enhanced. Conclusion CT plays an important role in the precise localization of primary retroperitoneal liposarcoma and determination of the extent of invasion and charac-terization of some specific pathologic types such as well-differentiated liposarcoma, myxoid liposarcoma.
