Abstract
OBJECTIVE:To verify the outcome of clinical pharmacists' intervention on prophylactic use of antibiotics for patients undergoing type I incision surgery in general surgery.METHODS:The prophylactic use of antibiotics in patients undergoing type I incision surgery discharged from the First Affiliated Hospital of Guangxi Medical University during Sept.-Nov.period of 2010(before intervention,n=106 cases)or during Sep.-Nov.period of 2010(after intervention,n=107 cases)was analyzed contrastively.RESULTS:Through clinical pharmacist's intervention, the rate of prophylactic use of antibiotics decreased from(85.85% 91/106)to 47.66%(51/106)(P 0.01);the rate of rational use of antibiotics increased from 66.04%(70/106)to 78.50%(84/106)(P0.05);the manifestation patterns of perioperative non-rational use of antibiotics had improvement of varying degrees, and the average cost of antibiotics declined from 313.17 Yuan to 233.52 Yuan after intervention compared with before intervention(P0.01).CONCLUSION:Clinical pharmacists' intervention on rational use of drugs plays a positive role in promoting safe, effective and economical use of antibiotics.
