Expression of BAG-1 and VEGF and its Significance in Breast Carcinoma

Abstract

Objective To investigate the expression of Bcl-2 athanogene-1(BAG-1) and vascular endothelical growth factor(VEGF) in breast carcinoma and its relationship with clinicopathological characters.Methods The expression of BAG-1 and VEGF were detected by immunohistochemical(ElivisionTM plus) technique in 40 cases of breast carcinoma and 20 cases of benign breast diseases.Results The positive expression rate of BAG-1 and VEGF were 77.5%(31/40) and 82.5%(33/40) in breast carcinoma and 15.0%(3/20) and 35.0%(7/20) in benign breast disease,showing a significant difference between the two groups(P0.05).The expression of BAG-1 and VEGF had no correlation to histological types,clinical stage,extrogen receptor and progestagen receptor(P0.05),but was correlated to axillary lympy nodes metastasis(P0.05).Conclusion BAG-1 and VEGF may play an important role in the carcinogenesis and development of breast carcinoma.The expression of BAG-1 and VEGF can be used as an indicator for the determination of the biological behavior of breast carcinoma.
