A comparative study of citalopram and amitriptyline in depressive patient

Abstract

Objective:To study the efficacy and side effects of citalopram in the treatment of depression.Methods:Using38 patients according to the conditions in hospital or outpatient were treatedrandomly with citalopram and amitriptyline for 8weeks,and measured with HAMD and TESS before treatment and 2、4、6、8 weeks after treatment.Results: The both drugs were similar in efficacy.citalopram showed effects earlier and fewer sidy effects than amitriptyline.Conclusions: citalopram was a good efficacy and less side effects and convenient drug.
