The Relationship between the Ming Dynasty and Korea,the Li Dynasty during the Hongwu Period

During the early years of the Hongwu Period in the Ming Dynasty,in order to prevent the alliance between the Northern Yuan and Korea,Zhu Yuanzhang,called reverently Ming Taizu (founder of the Ming Dynasty),adopted an active diplomatic policy towards Korea.However,Korea hesitated to make a choice between the Northern Yuan and the Ming Dynasty--the two powers it had to face.So Korea employed double-dealing tactics and sometimes rejected the Ming Dynasty for the Northern Yuan.Therefore a tense relationship arouse between the two countries.This kind of relationship didn't improve fundamentally even after Li Chenggui changed the title of his reign.It was not until Zhu Li who was reverently called Ming Chengzu came into power that the relationship between the countries had been normalized.
