Abstract

Objective To investigate the efficacy of preemptive analgesia with parecoxib in patients undergoing thoracic surgery. Methods Fourty patients scheduled for thoracotomy under general anesthesia were divided into two groups with 20 cases each. The patients in group A were injected parecoxib 40mg 1h before surgery and repeated injection at 6h after surgery and 24h after the first injection. The patients in group B were injected parecoxib 40mg at the end of operation and repeated injection at 6h and 24h after operation.Visual analog scores(VAS)were recorded at 4,12,24 and 36h postoperatively. Results Significantly lower VAS points were found in group A at 24h and 36h.PCA number was less in group A than that in group B.Conclusion Analgesic efficacy of preoperative parecoxib injection is more effective than that of postoperative administration.
