Expression of Osteopontin in Ovarian Cancer and Borderline Tumors and its Clinical Significance

Abstract

Objective To investigate the expression of osteopontin(OPN) and its clinical significance in ovarian cancer and borderline tumors.Methods Expression of OPN in 48 ovarian cancer,35 borderline ovarian tumors and 25 benign tumors was detected by immunohistochemistry,and its relationship with clinicopathological features was analyzed.Results The expression of OPN in ovarian cancer(72.9%) was higher than that of borderline ovarian tumors(45.7%) and benign tumors(15.0%),the positive expression rate of OPN significantly increased with the decrease of differentiation of cancer cells,and the expression of OPN in ovarian cancer tissues with pelvic lymph node metastasis was significantly higher than those without lymph node metastasis.Conclusion The expression of OPN in ovarian cancer is significantly high,and is closely connected with the development and metastasis of ovarian cancer.
