Expression of Osteopontin in Epithelial Ovarian Cancer and Its Significance

Objective To investigate the expression of osteopontin(OPN) in epithelial ovarian cancer and its significance.Method Expressions of OPN were detected by immunohistochemistry method in 35 patients with epithelial ovarian cancer,17 patients with borderline ovarian tumor,15 patients with ovarian benign tumor and 6 samples of normal ovarian tissues.The correlation between the expression of OPN and clinicopathological features was analyzed.Results The expression of OPN in ovarian cancer(69%) was higher than those in borderline ovarian tumor(65%),ovarian benign tumor(26%) and normal ovarian tissues(0%)(P0.05).The expression of OPN had no significant difference between serous cystadenocarcinoma and mucinous cystadenocarcinoma(P0.05).Conclusions The expression of OPN increases significantly in the tissue of ovarian cancer,which is closely related to the level of serum CA125.It is one of biological markers of the early diagnosis,disease monitoring and prognosis evaluating of ovarian cancer.
