Abstract

Through literature review and field research,we found that the traditional project earned value method is based on overall angle to evaluate project schedule performance.Meanwhile, this method also doesn’t distinguish the earned value which is from critical path activities or non-critical path activities.Traditional project earned value method is based on the assumption of constant project completion time. When using traditional project earned value method to evaluate project schedule performance and cost performance, easy to cause discrepancy appearance between the schedule and cost performance monitoring results and the practical results. In this paper, analyzed the defects of traditional project earned value method through actual examples, and put forward an improved project performance evaluation method based on activities and key path perspectives. Finally,we introduced a case to verify the validity of improved method.
