Clinical observation of 80 cases endoscopic sinus surgery

Objective: To improve the curative effect of endoscopic sinus operation.Method: From 1998 eighty cases with chronic sinusitis and nasal polyps were performed with endoscopic sinus surgery.Result: Among 80 cases were lowed up over six months,18 cases(23%) were cured,49 cases(61%) were improved,13cases were ineffective. The effective rate was 84%.The serious operation complication was absent. The effective rate is 14 cases by treatment with endoscopic and Caldwell-Luc’s approaches was 93%.Conclusion: Some patients with chronic Sinusitis must be treated by endoscopic and Caldwell-Luc’s approaches. The lesions were cleared away completely. The different managements of middle turbinate were keys to improving the operative effect. Furthermore, meticulous post operative endoscopic care and medication are also important for securing optimal long-term results.
