Clinical observation of "Huangqi Bufei Decoction" in treating childhood bronchial asthma of lung-spleen qi deficiency

Objective To observe clinical efficacy of Huangqi Bufei Decoction in the treatment of childhood bronchial asthma of lung-spleen qi deficiency.Methods Sixty subjects were randomized into two groups: control group in which 30 cases were treated by conventional therapy,and treatment group in which 30 cases were treated by conventional therapy plus Huangqi Bufei Decoction,with a course of 30 days.The clinical efficacy,cardinal symptom scores and syndrome score were observed.Results The total effective rate was 90.0% in the treatment group and 73.3% in the control group,with a difference between the two groups(P0.05);after treatment the cardinal symptom scores were reduced in both groups(P0.05),with more significant reduction in the treatment group than in the control group(P0.05);on the third,sixth and ninth months,the syndrome scores were lower in the treatment group than in the control group(P0.05).Conclusion Huangqi Bufei Decoction is quite effective for childhood bronchial asthma of lung-spleen qi deficiency,with good long-term results.
