Abstract
Objective: To investigate the effects of Bufei Herb Decoction for bronchial asthma. Methods: 116 cases of bronchial asthma patients were randomly divided into two groups, observation group( n = 58) and control group( n = 58). The observation group was treated by Bufei Herb Decoction, and the control group was treated by Western medicine. The therapeutic effect, asthma attacks,ACT score, immune function and lung function in 2 groups were observed and compared. Results: The 58 cases( 91. 38%) were more effective in the observation group and in the control group only 45 cases( 77. 59%) were effective. The two groups had statistically significant differences( P 0. 05). The number of asthma attacks( 0. 65 ± 0. 51) in observation group was significantly lower than that in the control group( 1. 18 ± 0. 72) and ACT score( 23. 78 ± 1. 95) was significantly higher than that of the control group( 18. 64 ± 2. 03)( P 0. 05). The immune function( IgE,CD+ 4,CD+ 8) and pulmonary function( FEV1,FVC, PEF) in the observation group were significantly better than those of the control group( P 0. 05). Conclusion: The Bufei Herb Decoction can disperse lung and resolve phlegm and relieve cough and asthma and can be widely used in BA treatment.
