Abstract

Objective To explore the effective methods to evaluate the nursing workload and nursing time among neurological patients in ICU.Methods According to the contents of the revised Intensive Care Nursing Scoring System(ICNSS) Scale,25 patients in neurological ICU were evaluated about their nursing workload and nursing time. Results There were statistically significant differences in nursing workload among different shifts(P0.01).There was no significant difference in nursing workload between patients with mechanical ventilation and patients with non-mechanical ventilation(P0.05),however there was significant difference in the average care time for each patient between them(P0.01).Conclusion The revised ICNSS scale and timing method can effectively evaluate the nursing workload of patients in different shifts and different levels of critical diseases,so as to provide the valuable data support for the dynamic allocation of nursing human resources.
