The Application of Metaphor to English Lexical Teaching

Abstract

Metaphor is one of mode of human thinking and the vocabularies coming from metaphors account for the majority.The application of metaphorical theory to English lexical teaching is demanded by English teaching.The paper discusses the application of metaphorical theory in cognitive linguistics to English lexical teaching from the perspective of basic vabularies,polymeaning words and crosscultural aspect.
