Abstract
Objective To study the correlation between the angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) gene polymorphism and cerebral hemorrhage. Method An deletion/insertion polymorphism of the ACE gene was analysed by polymerase chain reaction in 82 cases of cerebral hemorrhage and 86 control subjects. Results There was significant difference in DD genotype and D allele gene frequency between the cerebral hemorrhage patients and the control subjects(χ 2=22.87 AND 10.5 , P 0.05),the frequency of DD genotype and D allele gene was significantly higher in the patients with hypertension than in the patients without hypertension (χ 2=5.56 and 8.43,P0.01),and also in the patients without hypertension than in the control objects(χ 2=9.54 and 6.83,P0.01). The frequency of DD genotype and D allele gene was not associated with sex,diabetes mellitus,hyperlipemia and smoking(P0.05). Conclusion These suggested the DD genotype and D allele gene increased the risk of cerebral hemorrhage,and this susceptibility was not depended on hypertension.
