The Data Transformation from MapGIS6.1 to ArcGIS8.1

Abstract

In this paper,the data formats of MapGIS and ArcGIS are discussed in depth and the data transformation from MapGIS to ArcGIS is introduced in detail.MapGIS and ArcGIS are two widely used GIS softwares ,and both of them occupy large amount of users.But they support different data formats,then the data share between users of the two softwares becomes an important problem.During the data transformation, the first step is to transform MapGIS data to E00,then by using the tool Import From Interchange File in tool-kit ArcToolBox of ArcGIS,E00 data is transformed to Coverage.If the data type is polygon,it is necessary to reconstruct topology in Arc.From Coverage format,data can be transformed to any format that ArcGIS supports.
