Abstract

In dilute sulfuric acid medium,an kinetic spectrophotometric method for the determination of trace phenol has been established, based on its inhibitory effect on the oxidation reaction of neutral red by potassium bromate. The optimum condition of the mentioned reaction is investigated in detail in the paper. It is shown that Beer's law was obeyed in the linear range is 0. 1 ~ 5μg /ml with the detection limit of 0. 01065 !g /mL. The proposed method has been applied successfully to the determination of trace phenol in industrial waste water.
