Abstract
Using Fe 2+ H 2O 2 initiation system, a graft copolymer was synthesized by copolymerization of starch with dimethyl diallyl ammonium chloride (DMDAAC) and acryamide(AM). Effects of various factors such as monomer/starch ratio and composition of monomer mixtures etc., on the percentage of grafting, the grafting efficiency, the monomer conversion and cationic degree etc. were studied. The mechanism of grafting polymerization on starch in initiation system was also discussed. And the graft copolymers were characterized and analyzed by IR and 1H NMR.
