Abstract
Objective: To research the expression and clinical significance of intercellular adhesion molecule-3( ICAM-3) in cervical squamous cell carcinoma tissue. Methods: Immunohistochemical SP method was used to detect the expression levels of ICAM-3 in specimens of 45 cases with cervical squamous cell carcinoma,30 cases with cervical intraepithelial neoplasm( CIN),and 15 cases with normal cervical squamous cell epithelium. The expression levels of ICAM-3 in different cervical tissues and its relationship with clinical stages, tumor diameter, histological grades, and lymph node metastasis were analyzed. Results: The positive expression rate of ICAM-3 in cervical squamous cell carcinoma was 71. 1%( 32 /45),which was significantly higher than those in normal cervical tissue( 6. 0%,1 /15) and CIN Ⅱ-Ⅲ( 40. 0%,12 /30); the positive expression rate of ICAM-3 in lymph node metastasis group was 87. 0%( 20 /23),which was significantly higher than that in non-lymph node metastasis group( 54. 5%,12 /22); there was statistically significant difference in positive expression rate of ICAM-3 among cervical squamous cell carcinoma of grade Ⅰ and grade Ⅱ,Ⅲ( P 0. 05). Conclusion: The up-regulation of ICAM-3 protein is closely correlated with occurrence and development of cervical squamous cell carcinoma.
