A complete random design was used in a three-factor experiment where potato cultivars Mira, Liangshu 97 and Jinguan were cultured on MS or 1/2 MS media containing B9 at 5, 15 and 25 mg/L. Plant weight, plant height, stem node number, root weight and root number of the virus-free plantlets were recorded. 1/2 MS medium with a B9 concentration of 5 mg/L was most favorable for weight gain and plant elongation of the plantlets for all three cultivars while the optimum composition of the MS medium and B9 concentration for node increase varied with cultivar.
