Abstract
Objective: To establish a method to determine the content of chloramphenicol in dexamethasone ointment compound Method: The first order derivative spectrophotometry was used to determine the chloramphenicol content without separation. The detecting wavelength was at 299 nm. Results:The method was linear within range of 24-40 ug mL-1(r= 0.999 7). The average rate of recovery was 98.9% with RSD 0.75% . Conclusion: The interference of the other components can be excluded in the determination by this method, which is simple, rapid and accurate. It is suitable for the quality control of hospital preparation.
