Findings of MRI and CT in Central Neurocytomas

Objective To characterize the MRI and CT findings of central neurocytomas.Methods The MRI and CT findings of 10 cases with central neurocytomas confirmed by surgery and pathology were analyzed retrospectively.Results MRI and CT revealed masses in lateral ventricle,which were attached to the septum pellucidum near the foramen of Monro.Most masses showed isointensity in T1W1,hyper or isointensity in T2W1,iso or mild hyperdensity in CT images.Enhancement was seen after administration of contrast agent.Necrosis,mild hemorrhage and calcification were detected in some cases.The lesions appeared distinct margins and were well-demarcated from surrounding tissues.Conclusion Masses located in the lateral ventricle attached to the septa pellucidum near the foramen of Monro,especially for young person should be considered the diagnosis of central neurocytoma.MRI and CT were valuable in the preoperative consideration.
