Abstract
Objective To analyze the relationship between survivin protein expression and cell proliferation as well as apoptosis in human laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma(LSCC),and evaluate their clinicopathological significances. Methods Immuohistochemical staining technique was taken to detect the expression of survivin and Ki-67 and TUNEL was taken for apoptosis in 86 LSCCs and 32 laryngeal epithelium mucosa tissues. Results In LSCCs,the positive expression rate of survivin was 60.5%,which was higher than that in laryngeal mucosa tissues(P0.05).The positive expression rate of survivin was correlated with TNM stage, histological grade and lymph node metastasis(P0.05).The apoptotic index(AI)in survivin positive group was significantly lower than that in survivin negative group(P0.05),and AI was negatively correlated with weighted survivin score(r=-0.831,P0.05).The proliferation index(PI)in survivin positive group was significantly higher than that in survivin negative group(P0.05),and PI was positively correlated with weighted survivin score(r=0.883,P0.05).Conclusion Survivin is overexpressed in LSCCs,and it may play important roles in human laryngeal tumorigenesis through the inhibition of apoptosis and acceleration of proliferation activity.
