Abstract
A new loading test, called self balanced loading test, including its principle and testing apparatus, as well as its peculiarities in comparison with the traditional static loading test, are introduced. The diverse positions of placing load cell within the pile are classified by actual engineering experience, which can be used respectively and conveniently for all kinds of piles. Empirical conversion and exact conversion methods from the results of self balanced method to the results of traditional loading tests are put forward. Finally, the application of the present method in bridge pile with a diameter of 2.8m and a bearing capacity of 120000kN is introduced.
