Abstract
Objective To investigate the expression of p185 proteins in squamous cell carcinoma of cervix and its implication Methods Expression of p185 proteins was examined immunohistochemically in 25 cases' carcinoma in situ, 86 cases' squamous cell carcinoma, 20 cases' normal uterine cervix and 18 cases' cervicitis tissues. Results (1) The expression rate of p185 proteins was 39.7% in cervical carcinoma and was absent in normal uterine cervix. In the 18 cases of cervicitis, a small amount of p185 proteins expression appeared. No relationship between p185 proteins expression and age was found. (2) There was no significant difference between the carcinoma in situ and invasive carcinoma (P0.05), but in poor differentiation cervical carcinoma, p185 protein was highly expressed (56.8%). The expressions of p185 proteins was related to clinical stage (P0.05). (3) Positive relationship showed between expression of p185 proteins and lymph node metastasis (P0.05). Conclusion The expression of p185 proteins was the signal of cell malignant change, and was related to relapse of squmous cell carcinoma. Chronic cervicitis might be involved in the canceration course of cervical carcinoma.
