Abstract
The pretreatment of lignocellulose is a critical step for the conversion of biomass to fuel ethanol, which directly influences the hydrolysis efficiency of lignocellulose and the production cost of fuel ethanol. The status quo of several pretreatment techniques for lignocellulose in China and abroad was introduced, and the technological characteristics and the economical efficiency of lignocellulose converted to fuel ethanol were analyzed. In the end, several pretreatment techniques with huge economic potential were summarized.
