Abstract

The system of theme and rheme is the important constituent of the textual function in the functional grammar.The theme is the starting-point for the message.It is the ground from which the clause is taking off.The remainder of the message,in which the theme is developed,is called the rheme.Studying theme structure has directing value to the language's teaching and language's application.
