Abstract
Objective To study the effect of vitrectomy in conjunction with Chinese medicinal materials on proliferative diabetic retinopathy(PDR).Methods 29 eyes with PDR in 25 patients undergone standard vitreoretinal surgery were analyzed retrospectively, and the causes of poor sight after operation were summarized. Results The follow-up period was 5 to 20 months. After surgery, visual acuity improved in 24 eyes(82.76%).In the 29 eyes, the number of eyes with visual acuity(VA)≥0.01 was increased from 16(55.17%) to 22(75.86%),and the number of eyes with VA≥0.1 wasincreased from 6(20.69%) to 16(55.17%).There was no marked change in 2 eyes(6.90%),and a little descent in 2 eyes(6.90%).And the proportion of the improved eyes was higher in stage Ⅳand(88.89%) than in stage Ⅵ(50%).Conclusion Vitrectomy is an effective treatment for PDR.And in conjunction with Chinese medicinal materials can decrease hemorrhage and edema, promote the absorption of bleeding The key factors influencing postoperative visual acuity are right timing of operation and decreasing decrease of operative complications.
