Abstract

Objective:To study the prevalence and related factors of anxiety and depression in patients with heart failure. Methods:A total of 684 heart failure patients involved in this cross-section study.Zung's self-Rating anxiety scale(SAS) and self-rating depression scale(SDS) were used to evaluate the patients in our hospital. The relationship between psychological and clinical variables were assessed.Statistical analysis was performed by unpaired t test or Chi-square test for independent samples. Multiple logistic regression method was used to find out the related factors for patients' anxiety and depression. Results:There were 20.03%of patients were identified for anxiety and 23.39%for depression in our study. Two factors, gender and education, were significantly related with the anxiety,P0.05 respectively.Gender and NYHA classification were significantly related with the depression,P0.05 respectively. Conclusion:Anxiety and depression were particularly common symptoms in patients with heart failure.Female, less educated patients were more correlated to anxiety, while female patients with worse cardiac function were more correlated to depression.
